About HELLASchool: mission and vision

Who are we?

Hello,

We are a group of teachers who founded HELLASchool (HELLENIC ELEMENTARY LANGUAGE LEARNING ABROAD SCHOOL), an online Greek language teaching school for Greek children of the expatriate community and the diaspora.

Our goal is to support and enhance the teaching work of Greek schools abroad so that our children can learn Greek as their mother tongue, as it is taught in Greek schools.

At the same time, beyond the teaching of the language, we aim to cultivate our culture and culture through appropriately selected teaching materials. At HELLASchool our language teaching is organized in a very pleasant and effective way for the children, so that they develop their language skills in the same way as the Greek children in our country.

HELLASchool comes to embrace all Greek children living far away from us and inspire them to feel the greatness of culture and civilization revealed by the in-depth learning of our language. The HELLASchool logo expresses our true love for all Greek children, especially those from abroad, and comes to meet the basic need and concern of parents to provide organized teaching of our language to their children.

Communication Manager

I am Eleni Mouyiou, a graduate in Philology with experience in teaching the language (Modern Greek and Ancient Greek) to primary and secondary school students, an activity that I have been practicing in recent years with children of the Greek community. This experience, combined with my communication with parents of students, led me to the realization of the need for additional support and strengthening of the language education provided by Greek schools. Thus, together with a group of renowned teachers, we recently created HELLASchool, (Hellenic Elementary Language Learning Abroad School), an online Greek language teaching tutorial exclusively for children of the expatriate community, where I am in charge of communication and management.

Our goal

Our aim is to teach our language as a mother tongue, and not as a processing language, as it is taught to their classmates in Greece, so that the distance does not constitute a reason for the breaking of this connecting link of the continuation of Greekness, which our language has so admirably managed through the centuries. The language of languages in a sense, through which man developed and expressed the subtle concepts of philosophy, science, politics, the profound meditations of prose and poetry, but also complex concepts of the gospel and patristic theology.

Why are we different?

We, the HELLASCHOOL creation team, as parallel parents, share the anxiety and concern of the Greek expatriates for the language education of their children, but as teachers we feel the double burden of responsibility that we have to bridge the homeland with the second homeland of our students and contribute to the acquisition of Greek as their second mother tongue and not as a foreign language. To this end, the curriculum, supporting materials and innovative activities are designed to ensure that our students not only enjoy learning our language, but also master the elements of culture, culture, history, history, patriotism and the Christian values and traditions of our nation.
